Vinicius Jr set to become the next Cristiano Ronaldo

 Vinicius Jr., a star for Real Madrid, scored in his team's 1-1 Champions League tie with Manchester City on Tuesday.

Real Madrid has depended on Cristiano Ronaldo's genius for years to help them win the Champions League. And on Tuesday night against Manchester City, Vinicius Jr. once again demonstrated why he should be the veteran's natural heir. Although Kevin De Bruyne's magnificent goal gave the visitors a point, the opening strike is unquestionably still deserving of mention.

Since Ronaldo upped and departed to join Juventus in 2018, Karim Benzema has taken up the mantle and established himself as Carlo Ancelotti's team's icon.

But if he isn't already a superstar, Vinicius Jr. is close to being one.

David Alaba demonstrated his value once more, particularly with a last-second tackle to stop Haaland. 

Jack Grealish's danger was successfully neutralized by the enormous Dani Carvajal, while Federico Valverde's defensive play was top-notch.

As a result, the tie is still very much in doubt going into the second leg next week.

Few, though, would wager against Real reaching yet another championship game in June, with either AC or Inter Milan waiting in the wings.
