Arsenal set to open talks with West Ham for England midfielder

According to David Ornstein from The Athletic, Arsenal is planning to hold discussions with West Ham about acquiring Declan Rice for £90m. This comes as the Emirates chiefs gear up for their return to the Champions League and are willing to spend big on transfers. Ornstein also mentioned that the club's decision to spend £200m this summer is not a reaction to losing the title, but due to increased revenues from the Champions League. The Arsenal executives are ready to relax their restrictions on player wages and provide Mikel Arteta with significant funds to secure Rice, who has been on their radar for some time, and strengthen their midfield.

There's a football player named Rice who's the captain of West Ham, and a lot of teams are interested in signing him. The problem is that West Ham wants £100 million for him, which is a lot of money. Even though many teams want Rice, Arsenal is currently in the lead to sign him because they can offer him a chance to play in the Champions League. The Daily Mail is reporting that Arsenal is close to making a move to sign Rice for £90 million. Arsenal is willing to spend a lot of money this summer to bring in the best players and challenge for the Premier League title next season. However, they'll need to sell some of their current players to get the funds they need. One player who might leave is Granit Xhaka, who's wanted by Bayer Leverkusen. Rice is Arsenal's top priority, and they're willing to break their transfer record of £72 million to sign him.

According to reports, Arsenal is not willing to pay £100m to match West Ham's valuation for Declan Rice, but they are willing to offer him a salary of £300,000 per week, which is the same as Bukayo Saka's new contract. Arteta believes that Rice could improve the team's strength and power during important moments of the season. Arsenal is also interested in Leverkusen's Moussa Diaby and Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi. Leverkusen's interest in Granit Xhaka could help Arsenal in their pursuit of Diaby. Kieran Tierney and Folarin Balogun are expected to leave the club at the end of 2022/23, while Emile Smith Rowe and Rob Holding's futures are uncertain due to a lack of game time this season.
